Abstract

1484517 Child - proof two - part closures NOVA-HANDELS AG 23 May 1975 [23 July 1974] 22673/75 Heading B8T A child-proof closure - comprises a skirt 3 whose upper dispensing opening 5 is closed by a cap 9 having interlocking engagement with the skirt. The cap, skirt or both are resilient such that at least one of them can be squeezed to release the interlocking parts. The cap may be hinged to the skirt and the latter may be permanently or removably installed on the neck 1 of the container to be closed, e.g. by being screwed, welded, glued or snap fitted. As shown the interlocking parts comprise outwardly facing, diametrically opposed skirt hooks 7 which engage in openings 13 which extend from an inner portion of a respective radially directed cap tab 15 to a point part way up the cap's side. In the hinged embodiment, which may comprise a toggle type hinge, only one pair of interlocking parts need be used opposite the hinge. The closure may be circular, polygonal or oval and may have its cap provided with finger grips. The skirt may have areas which vary in strength to assist unlocking.
