Abstract

1484410 Mooring vessels SAIPEM SpA 29 July 1975 [9 Aug 1974] 31783/75 Heading B7S A vessel 3, Figs. 2, 3, is positioned by two cables or chains 5 which extend ahead and astern. The vessel is advanced, e.g. for wire-laying, by winches 17, Fig. 4, and side forces are counteracted by propulsors 20. Each cable is made up of sections whch are removed from astern of the vessel 3 and added ahead of the vessel by auxiliary vessels 13, 15. Lengths of cable may also be added adjacent the vessel 3 and during this operation the cables are clamped to the vessel. Buoys 8, 12 are attached to the ends of the cable. Lockers are provided on the vessel 3 for stowing lengths of cable.
