Abstract

1481894 Syrup dispensing device BIG DRUM Inc 28 Jan 1975 [15 Feb 1974] 3733/75 Heading A4T [Also in Divisions A2 and B2] The unit 20 comprises a manifold 26 having a plurality of nozzle heads 30, a conduit 29 through which syrup is passed from a tank under pressure and in which is interposed a valve 35 which may be actuated to supply pressure to the manifold in timed relationship to the intermittent movement of the conveyer 25. Extending longitudinally through manifold 26 are bores which form a common syrup supply passage 40 and ball controlled outlet 41 lead upwardly from passage 40 one outlet being provided for each nozzle head 30. Outlet 41 leads upwardly into a tubular ball chamber 42 and at the junction with the chamber there is a ball seat 43. A ball 45 is mounted for free vertical movement in the ball chamber 42. When cones C are positioned under nozzle heads 30 syrup is supplied under pressure to the manifold 26 by actuation of the valve 35 and fills the passage 40. All of the identical balls 45 are lifted simultaneously from their seats 43 when sufficient pressure is created throughout the length of passage 40 and syrup flows to all of the nozzle heads 30. When valve 35 closes the interruption of flow pressure permits all of the balls 45 to drop on to their respective seats 43. A suck back effect is created when this occurs and a non-drip effect is caused at the nozzle tips 50. The tips 50 are spaced from each other in such a manner that syrup issues as separate streams.
