Abstract

1481256 Refractory pipe fittings and pipes T TARUKAWA and H TARUKAWA 9 July 1975 [19 July 1974] 28801/75 Headings F2G and F2P [Also in Division B5] A fire-resistant T-piece F1 or a branch pipe F3 comprises an inner layer 10 of synthetic resin, a flexible intermediate layer 11 and an outer layer 12 of refractory, non-metallic inorganic material. The inner layer 10 may be of polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polystyrene, polypropylene, polyamide, polycarbonate, polyester or epoxide. The intermediate layer 11 may be of foamed synthetic resin such as polystryene, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene or polyurethane or it may be a thin sheet of polystyrene or a thin laminate of asbestos fibres in polyamide resin. The outer layer 12 may comprise an aggregate material such as asbestos, rock wool, glass fibre or sand mixed with a binder such as Portland cement, gypsum and fire clay or plaster, or it may comprise binder alone, e.g. fire clay mixed with Portland cement. The sockets 13a-13c of the T-piece F1 may include grooves 14a-14c for receipt of packing rings and shoulders 15a-15c; alternatively conical shoulders (15a-15c, Fig. 2, not shown) may be provided. The branch F3 fits into a hole 18 in the wall of another pipe P, a refractory mortar 19 being used for grouting.
