Abstract
1480963 Antistatic treatment BASF AG 7 Feb 1975 [9 Feb 1974] 5243/75 Heading DIP [Also in Division C3] Textile materials are rendered antistatic by treatment with a self-crosslinking, weakly cationic condensation product prepared by reacting 1 part by weight of ammonia (in the form of an aqueous or alcoholic solution) with 15-80 parts by wt. of either of polyether polychlorohydrin or a polyepoxide derived therefrom by elimination of HCl; R is an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic C 2-8 p-valent radical, A is ethylene or propylene or mixture thereof, n=4-30, m=0-4 and p=2-6. The condensation product has a viscosity of at least 10 cp. at 20‹C at pH 7 as a mixture of 20 parts by wt. thereof with 14 parts of isopropanol and 66 parts water. The textile, e.g. knitted nylon or polyester or a woven polyacrylonitrile, may be treated with an aqueous solution of the condensate so as to obtain a pick up of 0.1-5% of fibre weight and thereafter fixing by heating to 70-210‹C.
