Abstract

1479131 Measuring conicity K HECK 8 March 1976 [13 March 1975] 09149/76 Addition to 1445312 Heading G1M An instrument for measuring a conical workpiece comprises a base 1 into which the workpeice may be fitted until it abuts an axial stop 5 and is engaged by sensors 9, 10 and 11 of dial gauges 6, 7, 8 which measure the conicity. The workpiece is supported by radially extending pins 13, 15 in the same radial plane as but offset at 90 degrees to the gauges 6, 7, and by stops 12, 14 radially opposite the gauges 6, 7. One or more ball detents 16 are also provided to exert radial forces on the workpiece to reduce the forces on the sensors and these detents are detachably and adjustably secured to the base 1 by means such as screws 19.
