Abstract
1478924 Pneumatic separation MIKROPUL GES FUER MAHLUND STAUBTECHNIK mbH 4 April 1975 [4 April 1974] 14024/75 Heading B2H A hopper or bin 20 is provided with an apparatus for controlling the rate of discharge of a granular mixture from the hopper or bin with the exclusion of air and the elimination of faulty grain from the mixture, the apparatus comprising a discharge pipe 21 leading from the hopper or bin, a valve 12 in the discharge pipe for controlling its flow cross-section, and a container 10 having a floor lined with fluidising panels 11 and a top edge 14 forming an overflow weir for mixture free of faulty grain, the discharge pipe 21 extending downwardly into the container below the level of the edge 14 and being arranged to end above the container floor in coaxial alignment with a gravity shaft 15 leading from the container for collecting faulty grain. The hopper is lined with fluidising panels 22. The valve 12 is preferably of the pneumatic type. A valve 41 in shaft 15 may be manually operable or controlled to open intermittently. The weir 14 spills into a chute 30 which is divided longitudinally with upright partitions 33, the floor of the chute being fitted with a fluidising panel 31.
