Abstract
147,871. Schmidt'sche Heissdampf- Ges. May 17, 1919, [Convention date]. Fire and smoke tube superheaters.-In a superheater of the smoke-tube type, the tube elements are attached by flanges to the front of the headers, the headers being arranged in the spaces between the groups of smoke tubes. In one modification, Figs. 9, 11, the header is cast into concentric semicircular chambers closed by a plate c and is divided into saturated and superheated steam chambers g and f respectively. The ends of the superheater tube elements are fixed in the flanges d so that their inlet ends register through ports l with the saturated steam chamber g and outlet ends register through ports k with the superheated steam chamber f. Each flange may be secured by one bolt n or, as in a modification where the header is divided into two parts by a longitudinal partition into saturated and superheated steam chambers, one bolt secures both triangular shaped flanges. The flanges may also be of rectangular shape, in two parts superposed, the superheater tubes radiating from opposite sides and having their saturated and superheated steam ends registering through horizontal channels to a common inlet and outlet as l and k respectively in Fig. 11.
