Abstract

1477674 Automatic power control TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGY Inc 19 Aug 1974 [20 Aug 1973] 36385/74 Heading G3R A control signal for an A.C. motor supply circuit is produced in response to measured values of motor voltage and current which are used to calculate a value for the power input to the motor less the stator copper losses. As shown, a three-phase linear induction motor 10 is supplied over a controlled SCR bridge 14 in a variable voltage-variable frequency mode. An SCR firing'circuit 16 receives an input from a comparator 24 connected to a power feedback line 26 and a reference source 20. The reference power level may be set in dependence on the measured speed of the motor. Feedback line 26 includes an analog cirucit 22, Fig. 4 (not shown) comprising adding and multiplying circuits which are arranged to evaluate the motor power corrected for stator copper losses in accordance with an equivalent circuit, Fig. 3. Stator resistances R1-3 are simulated by elements in the analog circuit 22 while mechanical power generated by the motor is represented by a load 50.
