Abstract

1476768 Transfer supports JOINTINE PRODUCTS CO Ltd 7 May 1975 [5 June 1974] 24910/74 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions B5 and B6] A transfer support comprises a substrate, a release coating comprising a mixture of an aminoplast resin (e.g. urea/formaldehyde resin, optionally isobutylated) and polyvinyl butyral on said substrate, and a support film separably adhered to the release coating. The substrate may be a sheet, ribbon or strip of porous or non-porous paper, e.g. glassine paper, br clay or polyethylene coated paper, and the separable film may be made of vinyl chloride/ vinyl acetate copolymer or polyvinyl acetate. The release and separable layers each may be applied by roll coating from solution. A layer of pigmented p.v.c., polyvinyl acetate or p.v.c./ acrylic mixture may be applied as a design or image onto the separable layer by gravure roll. In examples, printed transfers were applied to p.v.c. sheet using heat and pressure.
