Abstract

1475918 Safety closures M B STULL 29 Nov 1974 [13 Feb 1974] 51903/74 Addition to 1415265 Heading B8T The safety closure of the parent Specification 1,415,265 is further characterized in that detent means, e.g. the recess 42 or 44 bounded by wall 46 or 48, are provided for yieldably holding the cap 16 in a turned position on the cap body 12. Turning the cap 16 from the sealing position, in either direction, by means of shoulders 37, (39) allows upstanding lug 40 to be forced over the camming surface 50 or 52 and to rest in the recess where it is held by wall 46 or 48 against the resilient action of hinge 26. The lifting tab 37 is hence free of interference lug 28 and the cap can be removed. Strengthening ribs 56 on the inside of cap 16 help prevent distortion of cap 16 as it is gripped.
