Abstract

1475561 Invalid seat LANDSTINGENS INKOPSCENTRAL LIC EKONOMISK FORENING 4 Oct 1974 [5 Oct 1973] 43166/74 Heading A4J An auxiliary seat for assisting invalids to stand comprises a base 10 and a seat 16 pivoted together along one edge by springs 12-15 secured thereto. The springs are kept centred by a tube retained by pegs 19. An adjustable strap 23 controls the extent of "opening", and a catch 24-34-36 retains the device in a "closed" condition. A chordal slot 25 in tapered pin 24 is engaged by a spring wire 34 passing through a slot in the wall of collar 36. The spring wire 34 is the central part of a U-shaped member whose side arms 28, 29 are rigid. The "corners" of the U are pivoted to the base at 32-33. Spring wire catches 26 are provided on the seat bottom. Operation. If a invalid moves one of the levers 28 outwardly it will be retained in the outward position by a catch 26a. In this position the spring wire is urged to leave the slot 25 in pin 25 to thereby release the catch, but will not in fact disengage, because of friction, until the person so adjusts his weight that the slots in collar 36 and pin 24 are exactly in register. Upon release the springs 12 assists the invalid to stand.
