Abstract

1473225 Drafting roller drives SACOLOWELL CORP 25 Sept 1974 [24 Oct 1973] 41644/74 Headings DID and DIN A textile sliver drafting assembly has a driven front bottom roll 18 and further bottom rolls e.g. 20, 22, 24 each independently adjustable towards and away from front roll 18 drive being taken by means of speed modifying change gears from front roll 18 to countershafts 58, 60, 62 and thence to the rolls 20, 22, 24 by flexible drives 96, 100, 106 employing driving belts or similar devices which allow movement of the rolls 20, 22, 24 without modification of the gear components, the flexible drives having associated tensioning means 112 etc. biased into engagement with the flexible drive means. The drafting assembly is shown in a two delivery drawing machine in which main drive is derived from a motor 34. An additional motor 76 is arranged to drive the outer part of an epicyclic gear box 66 under the influence of a sliver leveler which gives retroactive control. A locking pin is provided on the epicyclic gear box for when the leveller is not in use.
