Abstract

Acidic cleaning compositions which contain aliphatic and/or cycloaliphatic phosphoric acid mono- and/or diesters with 1 to 8 carbon atoms per alcoholic component of the ester, as well as surfactants and/or perfume oils and, where appropriate, also a short-chain water-soluble alcohol such as, for example, isopropanol, are produced. The corrosive properties of the product are eliminated by adding a water-soluble basic compound, and the resulting product remains a homogeneous solution even on prolonged storage. First a solution which contains 12 to 26 % by weight of the said phosphoric acid esters, the surfactants or perfume oils is prepared, the pH of this solution is then adjusted to 2.5 to 4.0 by adding the basic water-soluble compound, and subsequently the phosphoric acid ester content of the mixture is increased, while maintaining the pH constant, to more than 26 % by weight. The acidic cleaning compositions are employed, in particular, as clear rinses for mechanical washing of crockery or glassware.
