Abstract

1472239 Radio navigation STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 24 July 1975 30978/75 Addition to 1429743 Heading H4D In a modification to the parent Specification the means for distinctively altering the audio frequency modulation at the commencement of each cycle includes means for modulating the VHF carrier frequency with a coded audio frequency signal. A sequence SWITCH ON, C1, P, C2, N, C3, M OFF may be transmitted. C1, C2, C3, are periods of carrier only the lengths of which may indicate whether the main or stand-by transmitter is operating, and the system angular resolution per "bleep", P, indicates the station time sharing sequence position, N is the sequence of bleeps by which the bearing may be determined, and M the morse code. The audio frequency may be used to denote the bearing direction of the station centre line. Electronic decoding apparatus may be used to decode this transmitted information.
