Abstract

1471414 Surging drive of feed rollers JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd 11 Sept 1974 [24 Sept 1973] 44594/73 Heading DID The feed rollers of a textile spinning machine have a main drive and a surge drive to increase the speed of the feed rollers and hence produce slubs the respective drives being connected to the rollers by two clutches at least one of which is a free wheel clutch, the surge drive being provided by an arm 25 connected to the drive part of one of the clutches 27. The main drive is through a shaft 16 from a free wheel clutch 40 and the surge drive of arm 25 is pneumatic. The throw of arm 25 is determined by a lever 44 operated by a cam 42 driven from the roller drive, this determines the length of the slub. The pneumatic cylinder 32 is operated under the control of a tape loop 52.
