Abstract

1469637 Adjustable vehicle seats IHW ENG Ltd 5 June 1974 [5 July 1973] 32067/73 Heading A4J [Also in Division E2] A lockable pivot joint particularly for use in a reclining seat, e.g. a vehicle seat, comprises two members 11 and 12 pivoted together at 13 and having extensions 14, 15 for connection to seat parts and slots 17, 18 which intersect to receive a spigot 19; the spigot having teeth which can move along a fixed rack 26 on member 11 as pivotal movement causes the point of intersection of the slots to move, and a further rack 30, pivoted to member 11 at 28, being used to lock the spigot 19. As shown the rack 30 is biased to the locked position by spring 31 and the teeth on the spigot 19 are provided by a toothed wheel 24. Alternatively the spigot can have a toothed circumference.
