Abstract

1469479 Lubricants MOBIL OIL CORP 2 Aug 1974 [7 Aug 1973] 34172/74 Heading C5F [Also in Division C2] Novel anti-wear, anti-rust and anti-oxidative additives for lubricants are salts of (where R is C 12-22 alkyl and R<SP>1</SP> is C 1-4 alkyl) with an imidazoline which is substituted by a straight chain C 12-22 aliphatic group, e.g. 2-(8-heptadecenyl) - 2 - imidazoline or its 1 - (2 - hydroxyethyl) derivative. The lubricant base may be a hydrocarbon, mineral or synthetic oil or grease, and may additionally comprise soups, clays, silicas, aryl ureas, Ca complexes, zinc dithiophosphate, polymethyl methacrylate, aromatic oil swelling agent, kerosene, calcium sulphonate, synthetic sulphurized sperm oil, sulphurized isobutylene, polybutenyl succinimide of tetraethylpentamine, alkyl ester of dithiophosphoric acid, alkyl derivative of 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4- thiadiazole or dibutylphosphonate.
