Abstract

1469461 Electrophonic musical instruments; computer synthesizers NIPPON GAKKI SEIZO KK 17 June 1974 [28 June 1973] 26815/74 Heading G5J An electronic musical instrument of the computer organ type is described wherein musical notes are generated from amplitudes of a waveshape to be synthesized from Fourier components at least some of which components are offset in frequency from true harmonics of a designated frequency. The amount of frequency offset for each Fourier component may be fixed, proportional to the designated frequency, proportional to the harmonic number or modulated. As shown, sixteen Fourier components are used to obtain each amplitude which, after computation, is passed through a digital-toanalogue converter in a repeated and specified time interval. The Fourier components may be offset sharp or flat. Alternatively, with the exception of the first, the components may be offset so that they are all true harmonics of some frequency other than that of the first component. Quasi-flow charts for the various operational approaches are given (Figs. 2-6, 8-12, not shown).
