Abstract

1466560 Cleansing compositions JEYES GROUP Ltd 5 Feb 1974 [7 Feb 1973 18 Dec 1973] 6062/73 and 58596/73 Heading C5D [Also in Division D1] A stable, thickened bleach composition for treatment of inclined surfaces, e.g. lavatory pans comprises an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hypochlorite containing (a) an alkali metal sarcosinate or tauride surfactant and (b) another surface active component which is (i) an alkali metal soap of a fatty acid (8-18C), (ii) a quaternary ammonium compound, (iii) an amine oxide, (iv) a betaine and/or (v) an alkanolamide. The sarcosinate may have the formula R<SP>1</SP>CON(R<SP>11</SP>)CH 2 -COOM in which R<SP>1</SP> is alkyl or alkenyl (up to 17 C) R<SP>11</SP> is alkyl (preferably methyl) and M is an alkali metal atom. The tauride may have the formula The composition may further contain sodium hydroxide and a long chain (8-20 C) saturated fatty alcohol. Exemplified compositions contain, in addition to sodium hypochlorite solution and sodium hydroxide (1) sodium lauryl sarcosinate and myristyl amine oxide; (2) potassium laurate and sodium cocoylsarcosinate, and (3) sodium oleyl methyl tauride and myristyl amine oxide.
