Abstract
1464593 Spray carburetters, air density compensation ACF INDUSTRIES INC 28 Jan 1974 [9 Feb 1973] 03895/74 Heading F1H The Specification is identical to that of Specification 1464591 which describes the use of a bellows sensitive to changes in air density and temperature to modify the air/fuel ratio of the mixture delivered by a carburetter and the operation of vacuum-powered devices associated with the engine. The claims of this Patent are directed to an I.C. engine having a vacuum motor which is operated by the suction created by the natural aspiration of the engine, the vacuum motor having a working chamber to which suction is applied through a passage, and the engine also including an attachment which modifies the degree of suction in the working chamber by admitting ambient air to the passage, the attachment comprising a housing the interior of which is in communication with the ambient air, a plate pivotally mounted in the housing, control means operatively coupled to the plate to impart pivotal movement to the plate when a change in the pressure or temperature of the ambient air occurs and metering means including a metering element operatively connected to the plate so as to be movable thereby, said metering element determining the size of an orifice through which air from the interior of the housing can flow to the passage.
