Abstract

1464538 Automatic control of fuel supply in IC engines CAV Ltd 12 Feb 1974 [2 March 1973] 10343/73 Heading G3N A fuel control system for an engine has provision for modifying the output of the demand transducer in accordance with speed and is additionally provided with an idle governor which modifies the demand transducer output below a predetermined speed. The engine control system is basically similar to that described in Specification 1416862 with an idle governor circuit similar to that shown in Specification 1464378. In the present arrangement down transistors 54, 81 are provided in parallel with the demand transducer transistor 38 so that they all affect the current flowing in resistor 30 and thus the voltage applied to the control amplifier 17. The transistor 81 is arranged to conduct over the whole range of engine speed and so as the speed falls this transistor conducts more to increase the current flow in resistor 30. The transistor 54 conducts only below a predetermined speed and thus further increases the current in resistor 30 at low speeds. In a modification transistor 81 may be made non- conducting at higher speeds.
