Abstract

1463571 Automobile trunk lid lock mechanism NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 6 Feb 1974 [28 Feb 1973] 05521/74 Heading E2A An automobile trunk lid locking mechanism comprises first and second members 94, 100 Fig. 6, engageable with each other and pivotally mounted on the trunk lid and body structure respectively and both having respective first, unlocking positions and second, locking positions, as shown, and means 80 connected to the second member 100 operable from the driver's seat to move the second member 100 into its first, unlocking position, thereby moving the first member 94 also into its first, unlocking position. As shown in Fig. 6, the first member 94 is pivoted at 96 on trunk lid mounting plate 54 and engaged with a striker 56 connected via plate 58 to the body structure, plate 54 having a recess 54a therefor. First member 94 has a hook 94b to engage the striker and a detent portion 94a engaging second member 100 which is pivoted at 102 to a plate 74 connected to the body structure. Then, in the Fig. 6, locked, position, line 80 is pulled, second member 100 turns clockwise against spring 104, turning first member 94 anticlockwise against spring 98, disengaging hook 94b from striker 56. In a modification (Figs. 9, 10, not shown), the striker has a hook portion (112c) which engages the hook portion (106a) of a locking lever (106), the lever (112) being operated by a solenoid drive unit (122) and the lever (106) having an upper part (106c) for engagement by a cam (124) actuated by a cylinder lock (126).
