Abstract

1460693 Card and reader SCHEIDT & BACHMANN GmbH 21 Feb 1975 [23 Feb 1974] 7376/75 Heading G4M A card carrying a magnetic data track 2 has a section 3a, 3b with areas 4 that can be punched so that a visual indication of the data recorded on the magnetic track is available. The card may be used as a ski lift ticket with the data updated at each use to indicate the remaining value of the ticket. The card is fed into a writing and reading device (Fig. 3) and the magnetic data is read and transferred to a counting store. An electric motor is operated and a shaft 6 is driven until scanner 9 indicates that a coding disc 8 is in a position corresponding to the last credit value of the card. The shaft 6 is driven via gear 10 coupled to pinion 11 driven by driver pinion 15 mounted on motor shaft 16 via gear 14. Gears 10 and 14 are spaced a suitable distance to allow entry of the card. Shaft 6 also carries disc 17 which supports a punch device 18 having a punch 19 extending through an opening in gear 10. The shaft 16 is rotated by an amount corresponding to the amount to be deducted from the card and the punch is operated. The amount is also deducted from the counting store. The punch may perforate only the panel corresponding to the new value or may perforate all panels between the old value and the new value. The new value is also recorded on track 2.
