Abstract

1460674 Xerographic copying machines MINOLTA CAMERA KK 18 July 1974 [27 July 1973 30 July 1973] 31943/74 Heading G2H [Also in Division B 1] Air-borne toner particles, heat and poisonous gases produced within a xerographic copying machine are extracted by suction through a treatment section in which they are passed in turn through an electrostatic toner precipitator, a polyester, polypropylene or glass wool filter, a wire mesh coated with a catalyst for reducing ozone to oxygen, a granular active carbon filter, and a second catalyst-coated wire mesh. The wire mesh may be of stainless steel or brass coated with white gold or gold, with silver or copper metals or oxides, or with manganese or lead dioxides. Toner scraped off the precipitator is returned to the machine for reuse. The Specification also discloses a xerographic drum of not more than half the normal diameter, the drum being rotated through two or more revolutions during each copying cycle.
