Abstract
1460622 Alumina films RIKAGAKU KENKYUSHO 7 May 1974 20166/74 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions C7 and G1] A transducer for measuring humidity is prepared by (a) the anodic oxidation of a sheet of aluminium using oxalic acid, sulphuric acid or chromic acid, (b) removing the remaining aluminium using an aqueous solution of mercuric chloride or a methanolic solution of bromine or iodine, (c) heating the remaining porous aluminium oxide film to 1000‹ C. and exposing it to boiling water or steam, or heating the oxide film to 1200‹ C., (d) adding electrodes to either side of the oxide film. The process converts γ-aluminium oxide to another form of oxide, thereby reducing the time taken for stabilizing its electrical conductance.
