Abstract

1460567 Beds SLUMBERLAND GROUP Ltd 10 Jan 1974 [20 Oct 1972] 48359/72 Heading A4M [Also in Division F2] A mattress support for a bed comprises a rectangular frame comprises extruded plastics sides 1 and ends 2 inter-connected by corner members 12, the sides 1 having longitudinally extending formations which enable the sides to carry the ends of mattress supports at either of two levels. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, the inner faces of the sides 1 longitudinally extending projections 11 defining upper and lower channels 9, 10. As shown, the upper channel 9 receives the ends of resilient laths 19. Alternatively the wider, lower channel 10 may receive the ends of thicker laths which support an interior spring assembly extending upwardly to the level of the top 5 of the sides 1. In another embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown) the channels comprise recesses in the inner faces of the frame sides. The corner member 12, Fig. 1 may comprise square spigots 14 which fit into the adjacent ends of the sides 1 and ends 2. The corner member 12 has a flange 15 carrying a screw threaded insert to receive the threaded end 18 of a leg 17. Another form of corner member Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) is formed by cutting off from a hollow extrusion and then cutting away portions to define a plurality of hollow spigots. In a further form of corner member 38, Fig. 5, the spigots 45 are carried by separate connecting members 44 having dovetail portions 46 fitting into recesses 43 in the corner member,
