Abstract

1460450 Refrigerators, air conditioning G BARKER & CO (LEEDS) Ltd 23 Jan 1974 [1 March 1973] 10122/73 Headings F4H and F4V In a compression-condensation refrigeration system, water collected during operation or defrosting and to be disposed of is collected from an evaporator chamber 10 in a device 30 comprising a stack of vertically spaced shallow trays 34 arranged so that water over a predetermined amount in an upper tray cascades into a lower tray. The device is located in a stream of warm air drawn over the condenser 14 by a fan 20 whereby the water is evaporated. An additional tray 46 for catching excess water may be provided, beneath the device 30, and may include a heating coil 48 which is supplied with hot refrigerant by being connected between the compressor 16 and the condenser 14. The trays may be formed with drain holes in their inclined sides, the holes of adjacent plates being offset.
