Abstract
1460344 Printers NIPPON TELEGRAPH & TELEPHONE PUBLIC CORP and SHARP KK 17 Jan 1974 [17 Jan 1973] 02264/74 Heading G4H In an ink drop printer, formation and charging of ink drops are synchronised by applying to selected drops charging signals comprising substantially-rectangular pulses and of polarity opposite to that of signals used for charging drops used for printing characters, the charges on the selected drops being tested, the results controlling variation of the phase of the charging signals. The drops between successive characters, or alternate drops, may be used for the testing. The charge testing may be done by a wire or string electrode which the test drops should hit if the phase is correct, or an electrode may sense the passing of the drops by electrostatic induction.
