Abstract

1458236 Abrasive tools D H PROWSE & CO Ltd 23 May 1975 [14 June 1974] 26501/74 Heading B3D [Also in Division C4] An abrasive article comprises a plurality of metal objects 3, 4, 5 embedded in a carrier material, so that at least part of each object is exposed on an outer surface of the carrying material and having abrasive particles adhered to the exposed parts of the objects to provide a distribution of abrasive particle conglomerates over the surface, said abrasive particles being adhered directly to the exposed parts of the metal objects by a deposit of metal. The abrasive particles may be diamond or cubic boron nitride. The particles may be affixed to the metal objects before or after embedding the objects in the carrying material. Preferably they are embedded after by means of an electrodeposition method. The carrying material may be of plastics or metal. When the outer surface is of plastics material there may be a metal sheet on the surface opposite to said outer surface.
