1457284 Pipe couplings CALOR ENGINEERING Ltd 5 Nov 1974 [5 Nov 1973] 51325/73 Heading F2G A regulator attachment for coupling to a valve comprises a valve operating member movable between an inoperative and an operative position for opening the valve when the attachment is coupled thereto, a coupling sleeve member movable between uncoupling and coupling positions and switching means associated with the valve operating member, being movable between first and second positions in which the valve operating member 28 is in its operative and inoperative positions respectively wherein switching means 42 is automatically moved from its first position to its second position when the sleeve member 15 is moved from its coupling position to its uncoupling position. The regulator comprises a body 11 housing the valve operating member 28 which is spring biased to engage an operating rod of the valve, its other hemispherical end being engaged by a conical end portion 32 of a rod 34 radially mounted in the body 11 and spring biased to an outer position corresponding to the inoperative position of the valve operating member 28 as shown in Fig. 1, and engaging an externally, pivotally mounted cam member 38 incorporating a manual switch layer 42 and a portion 41 to be engaged by the sleeve member 15 rotating the member 38. The valve itself is inserted inside a wall 12 of the body 11 which includes frustoconical openings 13 to receive radially movable balls 14 which engage in an external annular groove of the valve and are retained therein by the sleeve 15 to lock the coupling, the sleeve 15 being biased toward a locking position by a spring 16. Gas passes from the valve through a port 17, incorporating a filter 18, and an inlet passage 19 to a regulator valve 20 comprising a valve member 21 at the end of a lever 23 coupled to a diaphragm 25 loaded by a setter spring 26 whose tension can be varied by an adjuster 27a.
