Abstract

1457138 Hinged closure and bottle neck assembly JOHN DALE Ltd 7 Nov 1974 [7 Sept 1973 8 Nov 1973] 42218/73 and 51893/73 Heading B8T A preferably plastics closure for a container comprises a cap portion 105, a retaining ring 106 retained on the container neck 100 by means of internal fins 109 abutting beneath the abutment ring 104 of the neck, a plurality of rupturable bridge elements and a hinge element, both extending between the ring and cap portion to make the closure tamper-indicating and to permit the cap portion to be hinged with respect to the ring respectively, a shive member 111, as shown in either Fig. 3 or 4, which may engage the container lip 101 to hold the cap portion in the open position and a weakened portion in the retaining ring which is ruptured to remove the closure from the container. The closure may have a double hinge, and is preferably used to close a container neck having a lip 101, an abutment ring 104 and a transfer ring 103, the abutment ring having either a radiused or truncated peripheral part.
