Abstract

1457075 Wrapping articles SIG SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE-GES 8 Feb 1974 [12 Feb 1973] 05801/74 Heading B8C In apparatus for forming a tube 2 around article 1, forming a longitudinal seam 3, bending the seam 3 against the tube by means 7 and transversely sealing the tube between the articles by jaws 8 which move with the tube during the sealing, the bending means move with the jaws 8 at least during the transverse sealing. The bending means may comprise a pair of frustoconical rollers 7 of opposed conicity mounted on a carriage which is moved longitudinally by a cam plate against spring bias. The jaws 8 move along the curves 27 or may be mounted for vertical movement on the carriage. Rollers 29 and 31 of the conveyer 28 which feed the articles from the jaws 8 may also be mounted on the carriage. The rollers 7 may be replaced by a sloping slot in the carriage. The jaws 8 may either weld or cold seal the tube.
