Abstract

1456584 Doors for shower cubicles and bath enclosures ACO SEVERIN AHLMANN 12th March 1974 [28 March 1973] 10874/74 Heading A4N [Also in Division E1] A door arrangement for a bath or shower basin comprises a partition 1, Fig. 1, having a frame 1a and a translucent panel 1b, the frame being secured to a surround 4 of the bath or basin by a web lg and a sealing strip 9, Fig. 3, and by an inwardly directed flange 1f and sealing strip 10; and a door 2 having a frame 2a and a translucent panel 2b, the lower edge of the partition being provided with a covered guide lc along which a guide rail 8 secured to the door 2 can be slid. The guide 1c comprises a channel 1d, having a downwardly facing opening, extending along the lower edge of the partition 1, balls 7 located in cupped portions of the channel co-operating with the guide rail 8 attached to the lower edge of the door 2. An elastomeric sealing lip 6 secured to the door 2 is adapted to slide along an edge of the bath or basin surround 4. Shims (not shown) may be provided between the web 1g and the outer wall of surround 4 to ensure correct fitting of the partition 1 to the surround 4. A fixed transverse partition 3, similar to the door 2 but to which no guide rail is attached, may be located on the surround 4, with an elastomeric sealing strip 11 interposed therebetween. Alternatively, a second door arrangement similar to the door arrangement 1, 2 may be employed instead of the transverse partition 3 to provide a door opening across a corner.
