Abstract
145,521. CayÞre, P. Oct. 20, 1917, [Convention date]. Transmitting-mechanism.-In a governor for prime movers, the servo-motor controlling the inlet valve &c. is operated by mechanism in accordance with the amount of variation of speed of the prime mover and also the acceleration. In one form, the governor weights move the point b of a lever a distance proportional to the variation of the speed of the engine, and a point c on the lever moves a distance proportional to the acceleration of the engine. A point a of the lever is connected by a link B to a servo-motor operating the inlet device of the engine, and is adjustable in a slot in the lever, its position being .determined by the inlet device, to which it is connected by links G, F, cam D and link E. The position of the fulcrum d of the lever C is adjusted at a speed proportional to the movement of the point c through links S, T, U, V, which turn a shield R enclosing two sets of ratchet wheels K, M adapted to turn a nut J on the screwed rod I in opposite directions. The wheels K, M are actuated by two sets of pawls L, N driven by eccentrics 0 and gear wheels P, Q, and arranged to engage the ratchet wheels when the shield R is turned by the links S, T, U, V.
