Abstract
1454026 Jet-pumps SRC LABORATORIES Inc 11 Feb 1974 [28 Feb 1973 8 June 1973 7 Dec 1973] 6064/74 Heading F1E In a jet-pump the area of the induced fluid nozzle is variable in accordance with the difference between the outlet pressure and the pressure of the induced fluid. As shown in Fig. 1, the end 31 of the combining tube 21 is exposed to the outlet pressure and the opposite end to the induced fluidpressure in the inlet 25; increasing differential pressure moves the tube against the action of the spring 23 to close progressively the induced fluid inlet nozzle formed between the surfaces 29, 30. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 the combining tube 54 is supported by a resilient biasing member 53 and is in series with an ejector having a fixed combining tube 47 acting as a primary nozzle. In a similar embodiment Fig. 5 (not shown) both combining tubes are variable to control their respective induced fluid nozzles. In the embodiment of Fig. 6 the inducing fluid nozzle comprises a coanda slot 93 formed in the combining tube 88 which is exposed to the pressure at the outlet 84 and inlet 82, movement being opposed by tension springs 96.
