Abstract

1453953 Photographic support plate J R DENNER 12 Aug 1974 [10 May 1973] 22448/73 Headings G2A and G2X A translucent or transparent photographic support plate comprises a plurality of rigid sheets 12, 14, 16, assembled face to face in a stack to provide the plate, at least one passage for vacuum supply to a surface of the plate being provided by or in one or more grooves 28, 30, 32, 34 in one or more of the sheet surfaces and one or more apertures 27 through one or more of the sheets, there being at least one such groove at the interface between an outer sheet and the adjacent sheet in communication with the outer surface of the outer sheet via one or more of the apertures. Vacuum to the grooves 28 in the top sheet is connected permanently. To grooves 30, 32 and 34 vacuum is applied via grooves 46, 48 and 50 and is controlled by valves, connected to passages 72, 74, 76, The valves contain discs 78 can be lifted off the passages by a permanent magnet 80 slidable in recess 82 in the block 58. The support plate can be rotatably mounted in a camera or enlarger on pivots through one of which a vacuum passage may be provided.
