Abstract

1453530 Selective printing BENDIX CORP 9 Oct 1974 [23 Nov 1973] 43763/74 Heading B6F A ring code printer comprises a printing head 38 which rotates to record concentric rings on labels 32, the head 38 being rotated by a motor 26 which is driven in alternate directions on successive print cycles. The printing head 38 comprises a plurality of electromagnetically driven printing elements 1-16, those to one side of the head axis being at different distances from the axis than those to the other side. The even numbered elements are continuously actuated, while the odd numbered elements are selectively actuated to determine the code. The direction of drive to the motor is controlled by a disc 98 which informs control circuitry through optoelectronic means which direction the motor was driven on its previous operation.
