Abstract

1453200 Laminated windscreens SAINTGOBAIN INDUSTRIES 25 Oct 1973 [27 Oet 1972] 49692/73 Addition to 1394271 Heading B5N A laminate for windscreens comprises in order a silicate glass sheet; a plastically-deformable energy-absorbing intermediate sheet, e.g. polyvinyl butyral, of thickness t=0À76-1À5 mm.; a reinforcing sheet of flow threshold stress J, thickness D and elongation at rupture E (DIN 53455); and a self-heating layer as specified in Specification 1,394,271, the product JD being at most 100, preferably 20-70, newtons/ cm. and the minimum permissible value E<SP>1</SP> of E increasing as t decreases so that E<SP>1</SP> = 20% when t = 1À00 mm. and E<SP>1</SP>=70% when t = 0À76 mm. Suitable reinforcing materials are cellulose acetobutyrate and the polyamide "Trogamid T" (Registered Trade Mark) in sheet thicknesses of up to 0À14 mm.
