Abstract

1452346 Coaxial connector LES CABLES DE LYON 18 Feb 1974 [26 Feb 1973] 7351/74 Heading H2E To interconnect two air cored coaxial cables a connector comprises insulating end members 5 with flanges 6 to fit into the cut ends of outer conductors 2 (and other not shown), passing inner conductors 3 and with flanges 6 seating in grooves in metal half-cylindrical shells 7, 7<SP>1</SP> having compliant slotted ends 8 to engage the outer conductors; the ends 8, 8<SP>1</SP> having conically chamfered surfaces each mating with a tapered washer 12 forced over the chamfer by a nut 15 screwing into a sleeve 13 housing the shells. The inner conductors 3 are joined conventionally, preferably supported by insulating disc 4. The shells 7, 7<SP>1</SP> may carry internal serrations to augment their grip. Sleeve 13 may carry flats 14 for gripping against rotation, and may be covered after assembly with a plastics sheath, possibly heat shrunk and possibly cemented or welded to an outer plastics sheath.
