1451239 Film magazines FUJI SHASHIN KOKI KK 2 Oct 1973 46075/73 Heading G2A A film magazine has a spool in the take-up chamber, which spool is spring-loaded so as to take up the film, but is locked against such movement until it is mounted in a camera, upon which the locking means is rendered inoperable. As shown, the take-up spool 7 is rotatably supported in the take-up chamber 3 of the magazine of Fig. 1 (not shown). A spring 6 has one end anchored in the inner wall of chamber 3 and the other end anchored in spool 7. Spring 6 is tensioned during manufacture of the magazine, so as to urge spool 7 in the take-up direction. Such movement, however, is prevented by locking engagement between projections 8, 9 on the under surface of spool 7 and projections 11, 12 on the inner surface of the magazine. Projections 11, 12 are carried by a flap 13 urged into a closed position by a spring hinge 14. When the magazine is positioned in a camera, and the back closed, this causes a rod 16 to be pressed downwards from the Fig. 2 position to the Fig. 3 position. This pushes open the flap 13, so that the locking engagement between the two sets of projections is released, and the film may be wound on to take-up spool 7.
