Abstract

1451198 Pivotal mountings D T SCOTT 19 Feb 1974 [29 Nov 1972 10 April 1973] 55058/72 and 17117/73 Heading E2F [Also in Division F4] An air diffuser comprises pivotally mounted vanes 18, each integrally formed at its opposed end with pivot pins 19 of polygonal crosssection which engage with a force fit circular apertures 21 in supporting members 20 formed from a resilient material. The members 20 may be nylon strips with spaced apertures 21 or individual bushes. A frame of the diffuser comprises four L-sectioned members 10, 11 which are mitred at the corners of the frame, one flange 11 of each member having a channel 16 to receive a strip 20 and the other flange 10 having a channel 14 to receive L- plates at the corners of the frame. Each L- plate has notches in its outer edges and portions of side wall 13 of each channel 14 are pressed into said notches to secure the corners of the frame. The frame members and the vanes 18 are aluminium extrusions. The diffuser may include two sets of vanes at right angles to one another and may further include pivotally mounted damper vanes, each having pivot pins of circular cross-section located in square apertures in members formed of a resilient material.
