Abstract

1451062 Moulding a baby soother LEWIS WOOLF GRIPTIGHT Ltd 27 Dee 1973 [13 Jan 1973] 1892/73 Heading B5A [Also in Divisions A5-A6] A baby soother comprises a one-piece tubular combined teat 10 and handle portion 11 moulded by a latex dip process, and a flange 12 forming a shield secured to the tubular component between its ends, there being a chemical and mechanical bond between the flange and the members 10 and 11. In order to form and secure said flange, the combined teat and handle portion is inserted into the centre hole in a mould having a shallow tray with a circular periphery, a bead 13 on the teat and handle component locating in the base of said tray. The tray is then filled with latex material which flows around and bonds to said bead as well as forming the flange. The complete device is removed from the mould after cooling. An insert may be embedded in the shield by positioning said insert in the mould and then pouring said material into the mould and around said insert.
