Abstract
1450809 Stupe compositions TEIJIN Ltd and HISAMITSU PHARMACEUTICAL CO Inc 9 Nov 1973 [11 Nov 1972] 52219/73 Heading A5B [Also in Division C3] Stupe compositions comprise as active ingredient (with reduced colour) a complex reaction product of a cyclodextrin and menthol and/or methyl salicylate formed by bringing the components together in the presence of water which may be present, e.g. as bonded water, in a or the component(s), or added. The #-form of cyclodextrin is preferred on economic grounds, but α- and γ-cyclodextrins and mixtures may be used. Conventional stupe bases may be incorporated, e.g. kaolin, wax, talc, petroleum jelly, ZnO, boric acid, aluminium silicate and sodium lactate, and the compositions may include tackifiers and other active materials e.g. glycol salicylate, salicylic acid, peppermint oil, camphor, thymol, creosote, taurine, scopolia extract, diphenhydramine, mercurochrome, phellodendron ustum plum extract, xanthoxylum oil, borneol and meprylcaine. The compositions may be coated on to fabric backings in the usual way.
