1450089 High alumina refractories CHAS TAYLORS SONS CO 5 Nov 1973 [24 Nov 1972] 51342/73 Heading C1J A high alumina refractory composition comprises (a) 75 to 97%, based on the weight of the composition, of an alumina refractory raw material (defined), 65 to 94 wt. per cent of which has a particle size of from -“ inch to + 325 mesh, the remainder being - 325 mesh (Tyler) and (b) 3 to 25%, based on the weight of the composition of iron chromite ore having a particle size of - 325 mesh. The alumina refractory raw material must contain at least 50 wt. per cent Al 2 O 3 and can be an alumina ore, e.g. bauxite, diaspore, kyanite; and non ore material, e.g. sillimanite and mullite, or a mixture of tabular and calcined Al 2 O 3 .
