Abstract
1449434 Handling tundishes VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISEN-UND STAHLWERKE-ALPINE MONTAN AG 18 Feb 1975 [19 Feb 1974] 6845/75 Heading F4B Apparatus for position-adjusting a V-shaped tundish 1 in a two-strand continuous casting plant in three mutally perpendicular directions, comprises a tundish carrier 3 surrounding a vertical column 5 the upper end of which is provided with a telescopic, hydraulically driven piston 4 serving to raise or lower the carrier 3 and associated tundish 1, a pedestal 6 rotatably mounted via ball bearings 9 and inclined roller bearings 10 within the platform 11 of a movable car and supporting said column 5 in a position eccentric with respect to the vertical axis 8 of the pedestal 6, and a pivot mechanism permitting limited angular movement of the tundish about the axis 7 of column 5. In use, movement of the tundish, in the direction of the double arrows in Fig. 1, is effected via a hydraulic drive 14 which is connected through linkage 13 to an arm 12. For limited angular movement of the tundish about column axis 7 in the direction of the double arrows in Fig. 2, a hydraulic drive 21 is operated to pivot a forkshaped member 20 about an axis 19. The member 20 carries a pair of rollers 17, 18 which engage a guide roller 16 supported by a web plate 15 secured to the rear wall of the tundish. The tundish is horizontally displaceable in the direction of the dotted double arrows by movement of the car along a track. Slide bushings 23 and conical widening of the lower end 22 of carrier 3 facilitates exchange of tundishes.
