Abstract

1449016 Power-assisted steering mechanism CAM GEARS Ltd 11 Oct 1973 [24 Oct 1972] 47539/73 Heading B7H [Also in Division F2] In a vehicle steering mechanism comprising a rack 1 meshing a pinion 2, an hydraulic piston 10 and cylinder 11 steering damping or power assistance device is operatively connected between one end of the rack and the vehicle chassis, and two ball-and-socket joints 8, 9 for connection to track rods 6, 7 are located on the rack bar between the rack 1 and the hydraulic device. The cylinder 11 is formed integrally with the rack 1. In a modification, the rack is provided at its end with a piston 10<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2, working in a cylinder 11<SP>1</SP>.
