1448436 Cleaning vehicle head-lamp lenses BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE AG 23 May 1975 [11 June 1974] 22592/75 Heading A4F A motor vehicle has an ornamental radiator grille 2 comprising substantially straight parallel elements 4 and containing openings for head-lamps 11, 12 provided with substantially straight lens wipers 13, 14 each of which, when not in use, is parked alongside the edge of the lamp 11 or 12 with which it is associated and in a position substantially parallel to the grille elements 4. For cleaning twin head-lamps 11, 12 the wipers 13, 14 are mounted on two shafts one of which is driven e.g. via rack and pinion mechanism, by an oscillating motor and drives the other via gearing or linkage so that the wipers move in opposite directions. The two shafts may be disposed one inside the other. A single motor may drive all the wipers of two pairs of twin head-lamps.
