Abstract
1447990 Gas turbine engines; screw compressors and turbines ERIC H FORD RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Ltd 2 Oct 1974 [2 July 1973] 31346/73 Headings F1C F1G and F1T An engine comprises a compressor rotor 4 formed with an open coiled spiral blade 14 delivering compressed gas into a combustion chamber 16 feeding an expansion rotor 2 having a similar spiral blade 12. Blades 14, 12 are of respectively decreasing and increasing pitch in the direction of flow. Fuel may be supplied via carburetter 18 or be injected at or adjacent combustion chamber 16. Air for starting may be supplied from a reservoir via port 26. Shaft 6 may drive a vehicle transmission.
