Abstract
1447560 Capacitors TAIYO YUDEN KK 31 Dec 1973 [30 Dec 1972] 60190/73 Heading H1M [Also in Division H2] A voltage multiplying rectifier comprises at least one stack of capacitors C 1 ... C 5 each comprising a cylindrical block of ceramic material carrying electrodes on opposite faces the capacitors being interposed by disc-shaped terminal members 8 attached to the adjacent capacitors. The terminal members 8 may be of metal or metallized ceramic and have projections 10 for connection of diodes D 1 ... D 5 . The circuit may be that of the Cockcroft-Walton multiplier, an extra dielectric C 0 being interposed between the two end capacitors of the circuit so that the capacitors may be formed into a single composite stack. The terminal members and dielectrics may be fixed together by means of silver solder, conductive adhesive or by coating with glass frit and firing in a tunnel furnace. In Fig. 3 (not shown) capacitors C 1 , C 2 form one stack whilst capacitors C 3 ... C 5 form another stack arranged parallel to the first. The multiplier may be encapsulated in resin or glass.
